Fast VPN
Your provider sets the ceiling, and no VPN will take you above it. A fast VPN is one that never becomes the bottleneck. VanyaVPN’s servers sit on channels as wide as 10 Gbps, and the app suggests a nearby country and reconnects if a server stops answering.
You can start with the trial: 3 days for $0.50
What sets your speed
Your provider. If your plan gives you 100 Mbps, a VPN won’t add to it, even with a 10 Gbps server at the other end.
Distance. Every request travels to the server and back, so the farther the country, the longer each answer takes. From Moscow or St. Petersburg, the nearby options are Finland, Estonia and Latvia, all three on 10 Gbps. From most of Western Europe, it’s Germany and the Netherlands, on the same channels.
The country you pick. The Fastest tile in Change Location is chosen by the server. Usually it’s the nearest country with a channel of 1 Gbps or more that has room at the moment, skipping overloaded ones and the country you’re in. Your device’s own speed isn’t part of that choice, so a neighboring country is sometimes faster.
The route. If you live in Russia, Russian sites have no reason to travel abroad and back. In Tunnel, choose For Russia, and they go direct while everything else stays inside the VPN.
When the connection drops
The app reconnects by itself. If a server stops responding, it fetches fresh settings, connects again and tells you the connection is back. It keeps several routes over VLESS + REALITY, XHTTP, Hysteria2 and Shadowsocks, and uses whichever one answers. You don’t need to pick a protocol, because the app chooses one that gets through on your connection.
If it still keeps dropping, open Settings on the Account tab and press Find working server. It re-tests the server and changes your IP, and if that isn’t enough, it turns on multihop, which sends traffic through one more server. The path gets longer, so speed may drop. The search takes up to two minutes.
How wide the server channels are
Every country in the app’s list carries a 10 GBIT, 1 GBIT, 250 MBIT or 100 MBIT badge. That’s the declared channel width of the servers there. Read it as a spec sheet rather than a measurement, because your own speed test will show less.
- 46 locations 10 Gbps Germany, Netherlands, Finland, Turkey, USA, Japan and 40 more
- 13 locations 1 Gbps Russia, India, Serbia, Iceland and 9 more
- 48 locations 250 Mbps Kazakhstan, Armenia, Thailand, Egypt and 44 more
- 80 locations 100 Mbps Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar and 76 more
Still slow?
How much does a VPN slow things down?
There’s no single number. It comes down to your provider’s line and the distance to the server, so it’s easier to check. Run a speed test without the VPN, then with the nearest country marked 10 GBIT. If the difference is large, pick another nearby country and compare.
Is there a cap on traffic or speed?
No, on any plan. Statistics in the app shows how much traffic went through in the last 30 days, but it’s only a counter.
Why doesn’t Fastest offer my own country?
Autoselect never offers the country you’re in, and it doesn’t offer Moscow to anyone. If you need an IP from home, pick the country in the list yourself. Russia, for example, is our Moscow location on a 1 Gbps channel, covered in detail on the Russia page.
