What the Argentine region is for

For PlayStation Store purchases, you set up a second account with Argentina as its region and use it only to buy games. You keep playing on your main account on the same console, so your saves and trophies stay put. The PlayStation Store guide (in Russian) walks through the setup with Turkey as the example, so pick Argentina wherever it says Turkey.

Spotify, Netflix and other subscriptions also set the price by your account’s country and expect a card from that country. A card issued anywhere else, Russian cards included, usually won’t go through on an Argentine account. The Netflix guide, also in Russian, says the same.

Order matters

  1. Connect to Argentina

Turn on a VPN with a server in Argentina before anything else. Tap Location, type “Arg” into Find location and pick the only row that’s left.

  2. Check what websites see

Open any IP checker and make sure it says Argentina. Stores record your region when you sign up, so this is the moment to get it right.

  3. Create the account

Only now register with the store or subscription. On a PlayStation, add the new account as a second user. Signing in on the console no longer needs the VPN.

Turkey has regional prices of its own, and the American region of stores and subscriptions comes with the US server. Every other country is under all 187 locations.

Prices and payment

Why does Steam show prices in dollars?

Since November 20, 2023, Steam has priced Argentina in US dollars instead of pesos, and a VPN won’t change that. The region still has its own prices, but don’t expect the old gap with other countries.

The store declines my card

Usually the card’s country doesn’t match the account region, and you need a card that’s accepted in that region. Also check that the VPN was on when you paid.
