What to install

Windows 10 and 11
VanyaVPN.exe
macOS 12 or later
DMG or Mac App Store
Linux (x86-64)
AppImage
Your browser
Nothing at all

For the details, see VPN for Windows and VPN for Mac. The AppImage sits on the page with all the apps.

There’s no browser extension, and you don’t need one. The app routes the entire computer, so YouTube opens the same way in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari or whatever else you use.

Feel free to close the window

Close the window on Windows and the app stays on in the tray by the clock, saying so once in a notification. On a Mac its icon sits in the menu bar at the top of the screen, and there’s none in the Dock.

So you don’t have to start it after every reboot, Windows has a checkbox in the Autostart block of Account → Settings. The Mac version from the DMG has Launch at Login for the same purpose, in the menu you get by right-clicking its icon.

Common questions

What if the video still stutters?

Usually it’s about distance. Video travels to you through the server in whatever country you picked, so the closer that country, the shorter the trip. In Russia, try Finland, Poland or Germany. Anywhere else, pick a country that borders yours. If the picture keeps freezing and catching up, distance isn’t the problem. Try Find working server in the app’s Settings, which is covered in more detail on the page about fast VPN.

Does Windows 7 work?

No. The installer only accepts Windows 11 and Windows 10 from version 1607. What you can do on an older computer is on the Windows 7 page.

Can only the browser go through the VPN?

Not on a computer. Picking individual apps is only possible on Android. What Tunnel does offer is For Russia, a mode that sends Russian sites direct. And under Manual you can list your own addresses and domains that should skip the VPN.

Phones and TVs are covered on VPN for YouTube.
